DeepL is a deep learning based translator that is not only an alternative to google translate, but can be a complete replacement for google translator. In my experience, it offers much more natural translations that can practically be used directly and that is why it has become my default translator for Mandarin Chinese-Spanish, Spanish-English and their combinations.
Its web interface is easy to use, just enter the text and the language will be automatically detected and choose the target language to get the translation. It also accepts documents from text editors and slides in .docx and .pptx format. Supported languages are Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, English, French, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Japanese.
With respect to privacy: The simple fact of not belonging to the google family of products is already an advantage with respect to privacy, since DeepL does not have more information about you and does not share information with third parties according to their privacy policy. Another advantage is that DeepL is a German company and therefore is under the data protection regulation of the European Union. However, as they warn, it is better to change sensitive information (name, addresses, etc) before using the translator.
